The full list of compatible models:

Mountain Lion
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)

Maverick
iMac (Mid-2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
*MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)

It appears everything has remained the same with the exception of the Macbook Pros.

Can anyone explain why the 13 inch model needs to be two years older then what Mountain Lion required. Is it possible thats its a misprint? Wikipedia shows a compatibility list exactly the same as Mountain Lion. The information I got for Maverick was from TUAW and several other sites.

I happened to have that model so i just missed the cutoff.
Since Maverick feels more of a part 1 then a full release. Email, reminders, notes, iMessages im hoping will have a make over for the next update that reflects their iOS 7 counterparts. It seems Apple was happy with just updating Maps, ibooks, and calendar this round.

Thanks in advance.

As there were no 13" MBPs before 2009, Apple cannot list an older model.
