Very happy with my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012, A1278). I want more ram. The Apple spec says 8GB (4*2) MAX....but many sources (articles, youtube vids, etc...) are using 16GB in this model for upgrades.

My questions:

1) Can it utilize 16GB (8*2) or only 8GB (4*2)
2) What Is the max ram speed MHZ & CL timing that it can utilize ?

Thank you!

I've used crucial memory modules, bought it as a pair, never had any issues even after 8yrs now, actual photos inside my 2012 13" MBP.

I have two 2012 13 inch MBPs. Run 16gb in both. Bought the sticks used on ebay here in the US. Didn't pay more than $40-45 for a pair of 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3 sticks. Kingston, Crucial, OWC is what I usually buy. Photoshop sees it all.

Thank you very much for confirming that apple has not correctly published the maximum ram amount I can add and that it works with 16GB. Much appreciated @justashooter @vince22 , I will go ahead with a 16GB kit !
