Compatible Screens for 17" wuxga Macbook pro tl b1

The cracked screen i pulled off this laptop is a lp171wu1 TL B1 WUXGA 1920x1200

I tried replacing it with an lp171wu1 a4 k6 wuxga, no dice.
tried an lp171wu1 tl a2, no dice again. seriously. somehow.

I've NEVER encountered a laptop this picky before.

Can someone tell me if they've had any experience with other screen fitting or if they can look at switchresx to see what screen model they have in theirs?

I have the same problem here with a LP171WU1 TL A2
Seems to be a software problem / restriction as the apple logo appears, just not in the correct resolution...
