... and spread all over the iPod too.

Is there anyway I can keep the tracks in a compilation album (typically, 'The Very Best Most Relaxing Classical Album Ever, Ever Ever!) in on place?

It's almost as if iTunes picks out the individual artist and treats each one as if it's an album. This is a PITA becaus I have had to append artwork to each track to identify it on the pod.

Which album is it?!?!

I usually make playlists for compilation albums. It's the easiest for me

It's many albums - but all compilations, none of the 'ordinary' albums.

Take Jools Holland and the 'Little World, Big Band' album - it's actually grouped very well on the pod, (apart from one track), because the artist is listed as Holland himself - so alphabetically it's ok, but you can only play one track at a time before having to click onto the next.

How can a playlist help? You do that in iTunes or on the computer first? My albums are on c: on my pc (I don't have a Mac (Yet!).

Two tips (don't know if you've tried them, but anyway):

Make sure that the album is tagged as a compilation:

And you could also make sure compilation albums stays together whilst browsing:

Any of this help?

Certainly looks worth a try, thanks.

If I go back to iTunes and mkae this change, when I next plug in the pod, will it sync with the new information?

Also, make sure the Album Artist field is set to "Various Artists". :)

select all songs from compiliation album, get info and check off appropriate check box.
If you actually bought the album, then it's done automatically.

Not necessary as long as the album name is the same across songs.

BUt Grid View uses the Album Artist field. How does that work if it is blank?
