Complaints of people not hearing what you say while on a call?

I got a refurb 32Gb a couple months ago, all is well but there have been quite a few times where people have say they "can barely hear me"

Is this an issue that has popped up in the pass with iphones or with any firmwares by chance? I have not ever had this problem before.

I get this about once a day.....I don't think its the phone. Its AT&T.

I get this issue as well. As a test, have any of you tried to cover the noise canceling microphone while on a call? I have tried this with some success.

Totally. I've tried different VOIP options like Skype and Viber and they sound fantastic. The call quality is amazing on those and it really shows how awesome the iPhone can be if it wasn't being dragged down by its network.

I have long conversations every day in the morning and at night with someone, and there is never an issue for either of us. We're both on iPhones. He uses speakerphone, I do not.

I'd imagine it's your area.

I had this same problem with my first phone, used it for about 5months and then the same problem happened to me.
I made an appointment at the Genius Bar and the girl that helped me said she has seen this problem before and gave me another phone.

+ 1. It happens to me on occasion as well, on all of my previous phones as well.

In my experience, it's an indication that you may drop a call shortly.

Depends where you're at. My work place is a notorious dead spot. I feel like an idiot yelling "can you hear me now!"

With my first iphone i had this problem, until i noticed that I tended to put my pinkyfinger over the microphone while holding it.

I get this when talking to my girlfriend with an iPhone 4 like me. Lately though it hasn't been bad? Weird...

Funny...... She never has a problem hearing me and she always picks up on the first ring.
