Hey guys, hopefully you can spread some light on this for me.

I use time machine to a firewire drive and it is constantly connected. I also have a Bootable backup thanks to SuperDuper! (I'd be screwed if I didn't have this right now!).

I was playing around (what an idiot I am - the system files are NOT for playing with!!!) the system files and I did something, I don't know what, to completely mess it it. The whole system took a turn for a worse.

Unfortunately I did not know what I had done so I couldn't easily fix it. No sweat, I thought, I have a time machine backup! I didn't know which files I'd messed up and so decided to do a complete install from my backup. I set it running and came back an hour later to find the restore from backup had failed. Boy was I scared! Luckily I had SuperDuper! Yay!

This is also not the first time this has happened. I upgraded my hdd and chose to use time machine to restore everything and it failed then too. After finally getting the drive up and running I completely deleted my time machine backup and started again hoping that everything would be fixed.

As this is not the first time this has happened I'm getting a little concerned. Time Machine works for individual files day to day use. Does anyone know why this may of happened? I can't think of any reason why it should have as I run time machine like everyone else - no special settings or anything. Is it because I also store some old data files on the time machine drive as well? Or some other reason? I think the files might be corrupted but I can't see how they would be as its unlikely that they would be corrupted on two separate occasions right? Is this something I should be worried about?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have!
