I am proud of the fact that, as of right now, my port to Java 6 of LaserTank is complete and playable. :D However, my version is missing some features in the original still... some I couldn't figure out how to implement, and the rest I need help from the LaserTank community to implement. The big things that are still missing are:
  • Language translations other than English
  • Custom graphics
  • A grab-bag of other small things
Still, though, this is a significant milestone for me in my programming career. I have not released the code yet because I am awaiting approval from the current maintainer of the game to do so.

Yeah, you've got that right... That website design isn't so great.

That said, LaserTank 4.1 DOES work in the Wine environment (via the free WineBottler or the paid CrossOver Mac), and my Java version will work on the Mac natively. :D

I noticed that somebody further up in this thread said they wanted to play... so here it is. This code is still beta-quality and probably needs more bugs fixed.

LaserTank (Mac OS X - Intel only - 64-bit ready)
LaserTank (Generic JAR for other platforms)
LaserTank (Source Code)

EDIT: Updated Links

Aw! That website makes me all warm and fuzzy with nostalgia for Geocities! I miss it!

I had sooo many websites on there :D I'd also get my graphics from Moyras Web Jewels and I was a webring member for various RPG webrings hahaha.

An update on the progress:

The first build without known issues has just been released. Also, a Windows build was added. It can be downloaded here (the other build links are the same). This means that the port is now fast approaching 100% complete. All that needs to be done now is to tie up loose ends that still remain (read: implement language translations), test extensively for any remaining bugs, and push the result out as a final build. :D
