Here's an interesting situation. Last night when I was listening to music from my MacBook Pro while trying to go to sleep I had the screen dimmed all the way. Much to my annoyance my screen would keep lighting up. I have no clue what is causing this. I quit every open application aside from iTunes and SleepyTime and the problem still persisted.

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.4.

Does anyone have an idea about what may be causing this problem?

This same thing happens to me! Have you figured it out yet?

Go into energy saver and deselect "Auto dim before display goes to sleep", your display is reducing it's self from MAX illumination, not from ur current settings.

Or turn your screen off completely and take a nap...

This is a known bug that I was used to having trouble with in 10.6... the best thing to do is actually shut down the screen using control-shift-eject. That shuts off the screen and keyboard but doesn't put the computer to sleep. I set it as a hot corner on my MBP.
