I got a new iMac back in June and I restored a backup of my MacBook Pro to get it going. My MacBook Pro had gfxCardStatus installed, which obviously it doesn't support my iMac. Every time I start up my iMac I get a window stating that "You are using a system that gfxCardStatus does not support. Please ensure that you are using a MacBook Pro with dual GPUs.

Now, you might simply tell me to drag the application into the trash from the Application folder, but it's not there. I cannot seem to locate any hint of gfxCardStatus on my system. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove it from my iMac?

Here are a couple of locations to look into.
  • Mac HD/Library/LaunchAgents/
  • Mac HD/Library/LaunchDaemons/
  • ~/Library/LaunchAgents
Also try to check System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items (tab)

If none of that works, try to re download the app, and then use the app called AppCleaner to uninstall everything.

Thanks so much Lunder89! That fixed it for me. It was launching gfxCardStatus from the Trash(!). I deleted it from the trash and removed it from the Login Items, restarted, and huzza, no more pop-up when I restart.

YAY! You are welcome :)
Thanks for the feedback.

(Actually didn't know it could start it from the trash... I haven't seen that before)
