Hi,
So I could really use some help here. I have been scouring the web for quite some time now, and have a lot of mixed information. Here is my issue.
I have a broken Macbook Pro, probably logic board
out of warranty, not chime, no boot, no screen, no nothing. I have tried it all.
I purchased an old harddriveless iMac G5 that I can use for the time being (I was looking for an old desktop I could use for "homebase" anyways)
iMac = G5, 1GB ram, 1.9ppc
Macbook Pro = Early 2008 penryn with Snow Leopard installed.
Here is what I have:
- I have the Leopard install disks from the MB pro
- I have the means of borrowing a Macbook with it's install disks
- I have the old 200GB HD from the MB pro
Questions that I cannot find answers for:
- Will I be able to format, the MB Pro hard drive through usb? or FW? and install Leopard through Target Firewire mode via the Macbook?
- If so what disks would I use. Would the disks that came with my Macbook Pro work on that same HD if they are being run in a different Macbook?
Basically what are my options to get Leopard installed on this HD. Seeing that I do not have retail install disks and that HDs without an operating system are not bootable with burned disks.
Thank you for your help, I would seriously be so so happy to get help for this one.
Matt
