What kind of computer will you be using the hardware with and what do you intend to do w/the captured video?

ive got two machines, i have a Q6600 vista machine and my MBP so i could really use either, what im wanting is something to capture from my cable HDDVR

very interesting, does not say its compatible with my SA 8300HDC but i can give it a try anyway, i know its got firewire

If the FW cable doesn't work out you should probably look at PC based solutions as solutions for Mac laptops start around $1500, IIRC.

yeah if this doesn't work im going to prolly pick up an intensity, maybe even the intensity pro for the analog inputs

The Intensity is a great card for the money if you stay in the realm of Quicktime-based apps.
