Component/part shortages?

I've been trying to re-order this week but have been hit with apparent part shortages according to Apple's website. Gives me a bit more time to decide I suppose.

At first, I noticed that ordering a 1TB SSD would jump the 'available to ship' timeline from 1-3 days to 4-6. That's back to normal now, but upgrading the RAM to 16GB is now showing 1-2 weeks.

Is this normal? I assume it's just a case of Apple not having enough supplies for production of certain parts. I'm on the U.S. online store if it matters.

I just ordered the 13 inch (i7, 16gb) upgrading either the processor or ram increased the dispatch time from 24 hours to 5-7 days.
 
1-3 days would be normal I think if they had the parts.

Looks like they're out of 13" 16GB logic boards at the moment (since the RAM is soldered on).

Yeah, I know 1-3 days is normal. Yup, being out of those parts is just what I figured.
 
been trying to exchange mine, since i have a defective display.. all of NYC are out of the mid-configuration 13", and some stores haven't had stock for 3 days now they said.. and they don't know when they will get some.. this is including their flagship 5th Ave store. so it looks like they do have supply issues.

I was just looking up the availability of it at the Long Island stores and there's none of the mid config at all three stores.

Manhasset just got them in right now.. according to the online store. crossing my fingers that the NYC stores are just getting stock in now as well.
 
Holy crap, what is going on. Now it's showing 3-4 weeks for 16GB RAM orders on the 13".
 
Damn… That sucks!
3-4 weeks is basically middle/end of next month. (Since technically Apple doesn't count weekends in their estimates)
 
Man, I guess I'm screwed. Unless Apple is overstating the shipment date and comes into parts quicker.
 
Could be a shortage. I ordered my 13" 16GB config on 11/2/13 and it took about 5 business days to reach me.
