Compressing Apple ProRes 422 Issue

Hello.

I shot some video with the Sony A1U in 1440x1080 29.97fps

I want to compress the video so that it keeps its Wide Screen look but it doesn't need to be in HD.

I've tried various settings but can't seem to get the true widescreen and keep it compressed to under 100mb.

I've tried compressing for H.264 and Apple ProRes. But it comes out as 4x3

What do ya recommend?

Note: some of the footage I used was shot in 720x 480 that is on the same timeline. Does this affect that?

you just need to set the output resolution to a 16:9 ratio.... like 854x480, 640x360, or 427x240.

I did what you said. The QT player is in wide format but the footage appears not to be.

The footage still looks smashed compared to the shot in the canvas you see in the picture.

any thoughts?

did you have "letterbox to preserve aspect ratio" checked? don't do that.

Are you going out to QT conversion or through Compressor?
