I'm getting a MacPro and a Dell ultra sharp monitor and it looks like they will be arriving at the same time. My question is this: Will I be able to connect the monitor to the computer with, hopefully, the supplied cables in the box, or will I need to buy a cable to make the connection.

You ought to be able to connect to the monitor using the DVI (white) cable that comes with the monitor.

Infact MacPro has a mini displayport connector, so you will need the required adaptor for it to work. You can purchase this from apple or a 3rd party.

You're wrong. It has both a mini display port and DVI.

From Apple Store:

ATI
Connect an Apple 24-inch LED Cinema Display directly to the Mini DisplayPort port or a 30-inch Cinema Display to the Dual-Link DVI port.

nVidia
The GeForce GT 120 includes both a Mini DisplayPort and a dual-link DVI port. With up to four GeForce GT 120 graphics cards installed, a Mac Pro can support up to eight 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Displays
