Computer creating new folders by itself? Help needed...

Hi, I didn't know where to post this but for a few months now my Mac has developed a really annoying habit whereby everytime I add anything to the desktop, be it a download, picture, text file or whatever, the system automatically creates 2 folders on the desktop titled 'JPEG Images' and 'Original Images' so I delete them but once again when anthing is added to the desktop they reappear again. Its not a life or death problem I know but its seriously irritating and if anyone could help me sort this out it would be much appreciated.. Thanks..
