Hi folks,

I'm running os 9.2.2 on an 800mhz Flat Panel iMac with 1g RAM.

My problem is: I've tried to install several different versions of Windows Media Player and every time when I cycle through to the "Windows Media Player will now check your hard drive for compatible files, etc.", the screen freezes.

Most of the time I can move the mouse around at this point or try Force Quit, but Force Quit freezes, and then the entire computer locks up, forcing me to turn the machine off.

This has happened every time I try to install the player.

I have uninstalled all other Windows Media Player applications, but this doesn't help.

Also, I have never had this problem with other installations, and I've tried installing it from a cd as well as from an on-line download.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks,

Cyclist

Install it to somebody else's hard drive, and have them burn you a CD of (or just copy over) the program and any extensions that it puts in the system folder.

Anti-Microsoft quip-of-the-day: great, now they're screwing up OTHER OS's.

Yeah, I tried that.

I'm wondering if I maybe neglected to delete some extensions after I trashed the first media player. Would that cause a freeze-up on install?

confused,

p.s. Thanks for your help
