Whenever i have my Macbook Pro plugged into my external monitor (HDMI through a Moshi mini adapter), it seems like if I close my laptop's lid, my computer doesn't go into sleep mode. Instead, it makes the external monitor the main monitor. Also, if I force it into sleep mode, it freezes up completely and I have to reboot my computer completely. Is there any way to fix this so that I could put it to sleep (hopefully by just closing my laptop) without it freezing? My Macbook Pro is a 17-inch, Early 2009 model running Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

Thanks!
