Computer shuts down when WiFi turned off after update to Catalina.

Just updated my 2016 MacBook Pro to Catalina. I leave the computer on sleep overnight but the router is timed to shut down WLAN at night to save power. This results in a forced shut down of the computer and it needs rebooting next morning with the report that the computer shut down because of a problem. This has never happened before with previous operating systems.
