Creative

I have a 4.1 Creative setup plugged into a Powerbook. They cost way under $100, the satellites are small and stylish and everyone comments on how bassy the sound is.

I just had a problem with them, or so I thought. My mate is a sound engineer and he was puzzled how I could have broken anything. The first thing he checked was the adaptor and cable I had added to connect to the PB. He was right, Creative are a good make with a mega sounding bass box and my cheap adapter was crap.

Your best bet will be to go to the store and listen to them all and find the one that sounds the best to you.

Ok I would like something under $150 preferably under $100.

Im not sure how many 5.1's your gonna find for under $100

If your system has optical out, why would you even consider getting computer speakers? Get a Denon 3803 receiver + pair of B&W 600 series 3 speakers and prepare to give your ear drums a wake up call.

If not, logitech speakers tend to have very very exaggerated bass. The key word is VERY. Check out the Creative selection 1st, 'cause if you listen to the logitech's 1st, you'll think creative forgot to put the bass in.

BTW, check out Logitech's Z640 5.1 package if you're looking for bass and budget. $66 shipped from newegg.com.

Looking at his or her profile, he or she has a PowerBook G3. No optical out on that one.

Besides, the system you describe would be just a hair over $150. :D
