computer won't read video files

I just got a canon fs10
I copied the files from internal memory to card in the camera. I put the card in my Mac and PC and I cannot open the videos anyone know why? First time doing this so I must be doing something wrong. I know the videos are there cause I can watch them on the camcorder.
