I'm trying to connect my unibody pro to my new Samsung TV. I thought I'd but the Mini-display to VGA cable to do this. My TV has a VGA input that I connected to my friends laptop and it worked great! No dice for me. While my computer can detect the TV display, my TV keeps giving me a "no device connected error."

But Macs are superior to PCs in every way?? lol
Check the resolution being output to the tv, try different ones until something happens. Sounds like the problem is with your cable, or the TV if changing the res doesn't help.
When using HDTVs, its best to use a DVI->HDMI cable for the best picture.

Its just frustrating that hooking my friends laptop up with the same cable works without hassle. I tried working through most of the resolutions without any luck. Thanks for the response though.
