iPod touch Conectivity

The 'Touch lacks Bluetooth and I was wondering whether it was crippled in other areas too. I'm interested in doing demonstrations of web development for the iPhone/Safari platform and it's just cheaper to use the iPT.

Can I set up shared WiFi from my MacBook and have the iPT connect to that (as opposed to a WiFi router) and server pages from the macBook's fixed IP Address to the iPT?

Anyone with an iPT/first hand experience would be of great assistance.
