So I am not very fluent in the use of a Mac. I've only had my system for about 3 years. Lately I've been having some issues with Network connectivity. Sometimes when I want to browse the interwebz, I get an error (on Google Chrome) saying how the DNS lookup failed. I know that I was connected to the internet and through some T&E I've come to the conclusion that it is related to "configd" in some way. So how I know this is the first time I experienced the issue, one thing I tried to fix it with was shutting down the computer for a while then rebooting (restarting did not fix it). What I had come up when it was loading the desktop was configd wanted access and I allowed it and the internet connection worked again. I have no idea what that is or how it is connected, but it seems to be the answer. So my main question is: How do I manually 'allow' it when it seems to have failed? Or if you think it could be a different problem, please explain.
Here are some side issues you can answer if you would be so kind and have the knowledge:
-My disk drive likes to spin around the disk then spit it out without reading it.
-Blackboard Collaborate conference session will not run regardless of the web browser(I'm thinking it is a Java issue) I've chatted with BC Tech Support and Apple support to no avail.
I have done a fair amount of research on these issues and I am trying to find the "diamond in the rough" kind of person to help me. I am running on Leopard by the way.
Thanks
