I'm considering an iMac as my first Apple computer. What specs would be best for my needs?

I will be using the iMac for web browsing, streaming videos, Microsoft Office, and very very minor photo editing.

I would like this Mac to last a long time and with my basic usage, I feel this is possible.

What specs should I go with? I'm leaning towards the 27" model.

Or should I wait for the newly released model in the Fall?

The base model with 8 GB RAM will suffice, but if you get the 21.5" model, upgrade to 16 GB via Apple, as your computational needs might change in the future.
The 27" model's RAM can be upgraded by yourself, thus you can upgrade as needed.

As for what else to get, it is up to you, if you want to get the Fusion drive (recommended over the standard HDD) or even flash storage. Capacity is again up to you.

If you go with 27 inch route, cheapest refurb model and upgrade more ram in the future.
