I normally use a phto editing program called Nikon Capture NX2, but there's one pix I want to lopen/print from iPhoto. However, when I open the iPhoto application it defaults to iPicture Library and will show me only one folder. How do i convince iPhoto that I want to open a pix from a different folder? I've tried copying the photo to the folder that iPhoto opens but it doesn't show. Import doesn't work either.

Select the picture and go to the File menu - select "Get Info". In the new window that appears, go down to the "Open With" section. You should be able to select iPhoto from the list of possible choices. If not, then select "Other..." and select iPhoto from there.

It is strange that Import didn't work in iPhoto. What format is the picture? (jpg, gif)

configuring iPhoto

Not sure what I did (except restart) but got the import facility working. Now I'll jiggle the rest. The file was a JPG
