Anyone know how I can turn the function keys F1 -> F12 into pure function keys on windows? I changed it on the apple OS in system preferences, but it didn't carry over to windows.

I did, but theres no option to use them as pure function keys without holding down the function button.
Weird. There should be a tab in Boot Camp control panel in Windows that let's you toggle whether or not you want the F keys to act as F keys (normal in Windows) or whether or not you want them to adjust the backlight, volume, etc. Try updating to the latest Boot Camp drivers if you haven't done so.
