Just received my new iMac and am in the process of moving my itunes library, which is on an external hard drive attached to a PC, to the iMac.

From what I have read, it is not too difficult as I already have the actual songs and audiobooks on the external hard drive.

Copy the itunes library located on the external hard drive at I:\Music\iTunes Library to the itunes library(music folder) on the Mac.. That sounds too simple as some articles suggest moving to desktop then copying to the library folder. In any event, all the songs and audiobooks in my

The next step would be to copy the configuration files (iTunes Music Library.xml and iTunes Library.itl) to the appropriate folder on the Mac. This part is somewhat confusing as one says to delete the extensions, one says only copy the .itl file, and others say both. I also have two other files in the iTunes directory on the PC called iTunes Library Extras.itdb and iTunes Library Genius.itdb, which are not mentioned anywhere.

Can anyone give me an idea if this will work and whether I copy the .xml and .itl files only? Do I delete the extensions before copying to the appropriate folder on the Mac?
