Hi all

Not sure why this is happening as all my devices are running the latest OS.

For some reason whenever I try to make a purchase on my Apple TV it asks me to confirm the purchase on an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, the notification comes up on my iPhone but when I click it it fails on the Apple TV… doesn’t attempt Face ID or anything… anyone know why this could be?

All devices are on the same wifi network.

Doesn't work for me either. And hasn't for months. There was a film I wanted to purchase and I ended up buying it directly on my iPhone because, yet again, Apple services are pretty crap (in my experience)

Just tested it again now and it just comes up with payment not confirmed with a red exclamation mark ❗️on my Apple TV, whenever I click the banner that comes up on my iPhone.

From this I have to click verify with password which goes to settings, which is a pain the a$$ as it takes you from one app to the other.

Considering this is a feature which is meant to streamline purchases it really doesn’t, and has actually made the process more cumbersome.

I would turn off password requirements for purchases but unfortunately have had friends over in the past accidentally purchased films, so don’t really want to disable the password requirement.

I’ve never liked making Movies purchases directly via the AppleTV, mainly because they usually start playing straight away.
It’s just easier to do it all via the iTunes Store app on the iPhone

Can confirm mine has been broken for a while as well. Someone pointed me here @StumpyBloke (thank you). I think either 16 did it or another 16. update broke it. The way it needs to confirm manually is a huge step backwards and theres no confirmation it actually worked either.

An Apple Tech friend told me a while ago if you write a Apple TV Feedback and if they get the same reports will fix it! Like they always say, more are better to fixed fast!

I have just raised it. But I hold out precisely 0% hope that this will be fixed. Apples track record of late is nothing short of embarrassing. And whenever they do manage to get their fingers out of their collective arse and fix something, you can guarantee it will screw something else up.

Is it in the iTunes Movies app or the Apple TV app?

For me it stopped working in the iTunes Movies app, which I prefer to use, a long time ago.
But it started to annoy me so much, that one day I tried to buy/rent a movie in the Apple TV app, and hey, here it worked fine.

A few days after I tried renting a movie in the iTunes app again, and it worked fine as well for some reason.

Today I have just tried to buy another movie, and it failed again in the iTunes app, but in the Apple TV app it still worked fine.

For me it’s the iTunes app haven’t tried it with the Apple TV app as I never really use it 😂, have raised the issue with feedback to apple and linked this forum post

Happens in the TV/Movie app. I don't purchase anything from the itunes app except on my device. I just used to go there to watch. Now I use the TV app to watch since it's still working.

I seem to have the same issue betweem my Apple TV 4K (2nd gen) and Apple Watch series 7. The feature used to work before. The confirm with device still works with my iPhone. Apple TV is on tvOS 18.2 while Apple Watch is on watchOS 11.2.

The notification pops-upon my iPhone, but the confirm with Apple Watch does not appear.

I already tried re-pairing the Apple Watch and made a reset with my Apple TV, but problem persists.

I recently changed the email associated with my Apple Account as well. But, again, even with the email change the feature works between the Apple TV and iPhone.

I already called Apple Support, but thie issue was not resolved. The senior agent filed an incident report afterwards.
