Confirmation of jailbroken iphone 3gs Os 4.0 8a293

hello i have an iphone 3gs 16gb. I am on firmware 4.0 8a293. I've been looking on the web for a way to jailbreak it, but nothing seems to work for me. Could anyone shed some light on the situation and provide a confirmed way to jailbreak an iphone 3gs that already has firmware 4.0 on it. thanks

This Way Works

I find there's always a lot of misguidance upon new releases for Firmware. I've been trying to jailbreak for 4.0 (8A293) with little luck until now. If you follow the links on this site:

I've had some success with these directions. When downloading the firmware or Pwnage tool 4.0, don't save it on your desktop. The key here, is to download the Pwnage tool from this link, it's the only one I found which worked for some reason. Hope this helps.

Once the custom firmware is built, head over to this link for great instructions on how to get in to recovery mode:

From there, hold 'option' when clicking 'Restore' in iTunes, this will prompt you to browse for the custom firmware. Find it, eh voila!
