How about the fact that the download is called Lion GM Seed?

Mine doesn't say that.
Mine says: OSX Lion - downloading.
Still no confirmation to my understanding...

So if someone has the GM, they don't need to bother getting the version from the App Store?

I downloaded the GM with hopes of being able to buy it when it hit the app store. I can't however so hopefully when 10.7.1 hits I will be able to. Apple deserves my $30 for this

Remove the installer from the GM and it will let you buy a license for Lion.
I just did that.

Or just hold down option when you click on BUY and it will bypass the version check and let you buy it.

Didn't they say every GM seeded to developers were unique in the way that they could trace exactly who leaked the GM to everyone?

Based on that, isn't that reason enough to do a clean install of the app store version?

Confirmed: You posted no confirmation.

I can confirm - both developer GM seed and "retail" downloaded install dmg have the same MD5 checksum of b5d3753c62bfb69866e94dca9336a44a. since Lion can be installed using this DMG only, we can conclude that currently Apple is selling the GM build. Doesn't mean they can't switch it to some revised version later since this is a download after all.
