hi ,

i have a shared external HDD from xp over my network.
i want to backup to it but i cannot decide how i should go about it.

CCC creates a sparse image over the network, can this be easily restored if my macbook's hdd dies via the osx disk? how do you do this? wat format does the external hdd need to be (is ntfs ok?) would i use migration assistant?

i would like it to be NTFS or FAT32 so it is able accessible from xp

but then again i do like the idea of time machine automatically backing up to it (using itimemachine or that terminal command to be able to see drives over the network)
can i:

partition the hdd HFS, use time machine to backup the system files
and then ntfs/fat32 the other so i can copy over all my movies and music,
will copying the itunes folder back after the restore be all well and good for itunes???

sorry about all the questions :p
