Hi Gang,

I bought a Dual G5 2ghz about 3 weeks ago from Mac Mall. And I thought I was supposedely getting the latest rev. that had the 8 RAM slots, but mine only has 4.

I paid $2,000 for it new and expected to get the latest rev.

Should I complain to them? Or is it just the 2.3's and Up that have 8 ram slots?

The current machine only has 4 DIMM slots, since it is the current low end machine in the lineup.

All the low end PM G5s were sporting 4 DIMM slots.

If you wanted 8 DIMM slots you should have bought a middle or top of the lineup machine.

Thanks for the Info, i guess I got confused b/c on Crucial.com when you go to select RAM it asks if you have the Dual 2.0ghz 4DIMM Slots or 8DIMM Slot Dual 2ghz.
When the 2.0GHz Dual G5 was not the entry level PowerMac, it had 8 slots. So Crucial is asking the right question.

This is an example of that newer is not always better, although there are some improvements to the Dusl 2.0 specs, the only negative is the fewer memory slots.
