I recently picked up a couple of machines and one is a dual 2ghz pcix G5. Machine would click on and off instantly. Once I removed the GPU it boots. I was able to put an older gpu in slot 2 but after the Apple logo it goes blank. I looked though my machines and found an identical GPU (taped on the pins) in my MDD. It also clicks on and off.

I’ve tried removing the battery and resetting pmu via the button on the mobo.

Is this a loosing battle with a bad pcix slot?

I own a DP 2.0GHz G5 PCI-X 2 model.

Have you allowed the possibility that the video card equipped on that G5 is faulty and/or that particular video card type was thrown in by a previous seller and was never intended to work with the G5? (not that uncommon when G5s get discarded/sold in bulk or dumped at the institutional level)

Have you tested a different model of AGP video card?
