Confused; Trying to restore

So my son bought a used 3gs that was Jailbroke with Greenpoison 4.2.1 on it. He wanted it restored and we tried, coming up with many error codes in the process and it was stuck in recovery mode. Yesterday I went ahead and did a tethered jailbreak with redsnow 4.3.3 but, I really need to get it restored to factory setting so he can get it activated. Any Ideas? Thanks.

Did you try a dfu restore?
And did it have the ipad BB installed by any chance?

I tried dfu restore. Did not work. Im thinking it did have ipadBB.

Nope. None. Will ifaith work for that? And if it will do they have a version for osx?

You will only be able to restore to a custom ipsw.
