Confused with iPhoto

I used iPhoto for editing my captures but now i do not like it because i can not adjust my pictures well. i can not reduce noise or something like that.

and I spend lots of time to search for programs that editing pictures.

if anyone has free programs please help me ..

There are no free applications that will do this well for you, but PhotoShop Elements is close. My local independent camera shop uses it with sharpening tools from NIK instead of PhotoShop.
