Confusion about Harmon Kardon Soundsticks

Ok, so call me stupid, I know this is a very easy hookup, but I just pulled my Soundsticks out of storage and can't seem to get the level of sound I used to get from them. I'm using a new MacBookPro instead of the Powerbook I us ed to have. I keep reading that it has a USB hookup, but the only connection I can find that goes into my laptop is the actual speaker connection. No sign of a USB coming from the subwoofer. Am I missing something? I can't remember whether or not it actually has one. Thanks for any suggestions.

Soundsticks 2 are not USB,are you sure the touch sensitive volume control is wound right up (it's on the right speaker).

I feel pretty silly. I kept looking on the speakers for the volume control and couldn't find it. I could have sworn there was one there the last time I used them! Found it and they're now working fine. Thanks again.
