it's a deal because Apple is offering them the ability to trade "up" for no restocking fee or anything of the sort.

...or get a random 100 dollar gift card. how is that NOT a deal?

Isn't it just the people who bought in the last two weeks? Thus they are under the 14 day return policy and could return it and either buy the new iPad or the old iPad at the lower price.

There was no deals that apple made, really just a spin on their return policy.

Its only because apple doesn't want to deal with those returning their iPads 1 and getting a refurb iPad 1 for less $$.

Its a win-win situation for both the recent buyers and apple
