Hi,

Girlfriend moved one semester for college in a different city and i want to give her my old Cinema Display (2004,DVI connection) and my old Apple TV (2017, 1st gen 4k) so that she can have some entertaiment while she’s gone. For audio she’ll connect a JBL portable speaker via bluetooth.

I already shipped her the Cinema display and a original Apple DVI to HDMI adapter and I’m sending the Apple TV sometime this week when my new one arrives.

The questions is - will this work tho lol ? I was pretty sure its all good so thats why i shipped the display in advance, however after some reaserch i’ve found that its a hit or miss. The problem is that i cant test it now because like i said earlier, i was so sure so i shipped the display lol. So did anyone tried connecting cinema displays to 4k apple tvs using original Apple adapters ?

It sounds like HDCP (Netflix, for instance) content will be a problem: Apple TV to Cinema Display (hdcp content) | MacRumors Forums
A cheap TV sounds like a much better option.
