You just need the mini displayport to DVI adapter from Apple and it'll work fine.

Hold the phone.....

Which 23" ACD? The original 23" ACD had the Apple Display Connector (ADC) which was USB/Power/DVI connector in one.

In order to use this ACD you need:
1. a special cable to take a DVI connector and pair it with Power coming from a separate power brick in order for the screen to work.
2. a mini-display port to DVI connector.

However, if the ACD we are discussing is one of the newer ones, then it has DVI which would only require the mini-display to DVI connector....

I'm not sure how to tell. It was bought around 2008.

It's got a cable that plugs in to the back of the display and on the other end it has four connectors... a USB port, a FireWire port, a power connector to connect to a power brick, and... a port that plugs into the back of a Mac Pro just fine which I'm assuming is DVI?

Okay then you are fine. I just didn't want someone telling you the wrong information. It sounds like you have the DVI model.
