Why would you? Everything that the TV can do is already in either iTunes, Apps or Safari...
 
Developers would want to and they'd have to use an USB C cable but you can connect it to a mac. In fact you have to for developer software updates. However running the apple tv as a consumer would on an iMac....I'm going with no as well as there's no way to change the input however I could be clueless on this.

Just stating it can be connected since the question was kind of generalized.
 
True - on the devs - I presumed using the 5k iMac as a monitor/tv for the TV

Not sure why the OP would want to do this, but the AppleTV would be much more user friendly for multiple media sources that are supported and easier to use with a remote.
