What's the best (and/or least expensive) way to connect a G5 tower to a TV monitor that only accepts composite or S-video input?
I am a professor at a university and my department allowed me to purchase a 2.0 Ghz G5 tower for use in my research lab. However, they refuse to also purchase either a projector or newer TV monitor for me to connect to the computer using the DVI or ADC ports on the included graphics card. So, I am stuck using an ancient TV monitor.
I have looked around on the net and haven't been able to find a DVI to S-video adapter. I have learned that ATI makes a card, the 9800 Pro Mac Edition that has TV-out via an S-video port. However, this card costs $300--and since my department won't approve additional purchases, this will come out of my pocket.
Is there a better, or cheaper, way to connect the G5 tower to the TV monitor? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
I will be showing assorted videos, photos, and web content created on the G5 to research subjects on the TV monitor.
