Connect Macbook Pro to TV Using DVI

Hi all, I plan on connecting my Macbook Pro 5,5, to my TV, using a mini display port to DVI. However, I am thinking of 2 issues I may have.

1. My TV is tall and thick, and I want to put my macbook on top of my tv, but the adapter I plan to buy, will CLEARLY be too short. What do I do?

2. I also want to play the audio of the movies to play out of the tv, not my mac. So how do I do that? Also, is there a chance it won't be in sync?

1. Get a dvi cable that will go from the adapter to the tv.

2. Your MacBook Pro has optical audio out from the headphone jack. Get a mini toslink to toslink adaptor then a fullsize toslink cable to go to the optical in on the tv or surround sound (if you have it). This way you get digital sound with full 5.1 surround sound.
