I have a 2011 iMac that allows target display mode for macs that can connect to it via thunderbolt cable. However, as you know, the new MacBooks don't have thunderbolt ports.

Anyone know if it's somehow possible to connect the new MacBook to a thunderbolt iMac and use that iMac as an external monitor? Maybe a chain of adapters I can use?

Thread Resurrection Time!!!!!

I am trying to give myself this option...

Anyone able to connect their usb-c rMacBook to a 2011 iMac?

I am thinking that the Thunderbolt 3(usb-c) to thunderbolt 2 apple adapter to an Apple Thunderbolt cable is my only chance. I may buy from apple and test within the 14 day trial to test.

Won't work.
