Connect my Macbook Pro to Displayport Monitor

I'm considering buying a NEC monitor that has Displayport connector. What do I need to connect my 2010 MBP to a monitor that includes a Displayport connection? Also, does a monitor with a Displayport connection have higher quality display than than those using an adapter that goes to DVI?

You need a mini display port to display port adapter or cable. Read up; some of the cheap adapters/cables cause problems with sleeping requiring a power cycle of the display (external).
