App Q&A testing by request.
I'm trying to connect to my Mother's old lg flip phone to grab pictures/contacts/whatever off of it.
I can connect to it via bluetooth, BUT browse device doesn't work on it.
I have a USB cable I can plug in with, but it doesn't mount.
It does not have a SD card I can use to transfer with.

CAN anyone recommend a program/browser/whatever that can help me with this?

Have you tried to connect the phone to a Windows PC? My old KRZR was recognized by an XP computer while my Mac with Snow Leopard didn't.

I can still transfer files between my 2013 rMBP and the 2006 ATTWS Moto RAZR MAXX that my mom is still using via BT.

You wrote that you've connected to it via BT, but have you actually paired the two devices using your Mac's Bluetooth Setup Assistant? The devices need to be paired before a file transfer can be completed.

Do that, and use the Bluetooth File Exchange application's (on your Mac) "Browse Device..." Command - you should (with one caveat, to follow) set a Finder dialog that will allow you to browse and copy files on that handset.

The caveat: some carriers blocked/disabled in firmware some BT profiles, most notably the profiles to tether and transfer files. Verizon Wireless was notoriously nasty about this practice for years. If you can't "see" the LG's directories/files, your only other option is to visit a carrier's store - they'll have hardware/software to move the files off the handset, a PITA but an option.

Yeah..paired, went thru bluetooth exange's Browse Device, said "Device doesn't have the necessary services".

You think the verizon stores would still have the hardware stuff...my father was at one yesturday (they're switiching to iphones) and they couldn't transfer off of his phone (his had an sd card, so some file movement took care of that)....but I don't know if they couldn't transfer off the old and onto the iphone, or just couldn't transfer at all.

Ha, I was right! VZW so crippled their dumbphones!

It's been a few years since we had VZW flips in my company, most of the corporate stores (not resellers) should have a tool that taps into those phones and can transfer custom files to another phone or to a SD card. Since VZW has pretty much ditched dumb phones, they still use them for pre-paid. The corporate store near my office is only about a year old, and they have the device - I've seem them use it for other customers. A call to 611 might help out to find the best store for your needs. Be patient - VZW fired all of their in-store techs a couple of years ago, it's only clueless sales people behind the counter now. A good option is Car Toys - flip one of them $10-15, and they can likely hook you up!
