I just bought a HP Z27 for my 2018 Mac Mini. Is it better to connect via USB 3.1 or HDMI?

I'm currently using USB 3.1 because the cable was included, but I could buy an HDMI cable from Monoprice if that's better....

If you're getting 4k @ 60hz with the cable you have now, just keep using it.
Why change what already works?

And considering all the problems people have with the HDMI port, stick with what you are using. I switched from a HDMI-DVI cable to a USB3/Thunderbolt - DVI cable and that fixed my issues of the screen not waking and snow.

Because never having used a 4K monitor, I could be experiencing some fraction of its best resolution (due to the wrong connection) and not realize it.

And I bought the 4K monitor in the first place to replace something that "already worked" for something better. Improving what works is the goal of probably 75% of postings here. My Mac Classic worked quite well.

Huh. I'm having monitor-not-waking problems, though no snow at all. So I wonder if I'm using the wrong cable after all.
Included was "USB Type-C to Type-A", and "DisplayPort". I went with the first. Was that wrong?
