With High Sierra and Mojave, connected servers e.g. Airport Time Capsule and Synology Disk Station would appear (and remain) in the Finder Sidebar (providing you had them ticked in Finder Preferences). Now with Catalina the only time they appear is when I select 'connect to server' from Finder then 'Go'.

Once connected and I mount one of the Synology folders DiskStation then appears in the Finder sidebar. However, as soon as I eject the folder DiskStation disappears again. This is a right PITA. How long is it going to take for Apple to iron out the bugs with Catalina?

Speaking personally, instead of rushing to bring out a new OS every year Apple should concentrate on making good the OS that's already current. I would be happy for them to mimic Microsoft i.e. keep what they have but keep enhancing it with new features and updates.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I seem to have resolved the above issue. With regards to Airport TC I removed it as a Time Machine backup disk then re-added it. This did the trick - Airport TC is now back in the Finder sidebar. As regards the Synology NAS, I'm not sure what I did there. I tried a host of different things e.g. purging the cache, deleting all references to it in the connected servers, deleting Finder plist and rebooting the NAS numerous time.

One of these actions worked as suddenly the NAS reappeared in the Finder sidebar and more importantly I can now mount the individual folders from the DiskStation entry in the sidebar.
