one of the coffee shops that i frequent has wifi, and recently i haven't been able to get online. it says i am connected to the network will full strength, but am not connected to the internet. i even bought my ipod touch tonight to check, and it worked just fine. everyone around me is surfing as usual... why am i experiencing this? it's been this way for a few weeks now. did they somehow block me from connecting?

i've tried the network diagnostic things and no luck.

Are you using the MacBook in your signature? What OS and web browser are you using? Does the system connect fine to any other internet connection (home, work, etc)?

Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/) and see if you can ping Google:

Code:
ping google.com
If that doesn't work, ping it by its IP address:

Code:
ping 74.125.67.100
If you're able to ping by IP, but not by domain name, you may have a DNS setting issue.

Just a couple of quick things to try. :)

i'm not sure what you mean by "my signature"...?

i am running 10.6.2 and google chrome, but have tried safari and firefox with same results. and yes, i can connect just fine to any other network.

i'm not there right now, but next time i will try those things.

thanks so much!
