connected to new computer, it deleted media, but the media still taking up space

I got a new computer, connected to the new computer to transfer purchases from iphone, so it did the thing where it deletes movies+music. Ok, but now I have no music and movies but only 2 gigs left! It's on the phone, just not available to me. I don't want to have to restore unless I have to. Is there something I can do to get either a) my music and movies or b) my space back?

When I go to iPod app, it is bare. When I click on the iPhone in iTunes, all my media shows up in iTunes. Stupid iPhone is just making all the stored stuff inaccessible

Try calling Apple first maybe?
