I recently purchased a Samsung 32" TV (L32R81BDX) along with a gold plated VGA cable. I rushed home hoping to connect it via the DVI-VGA cable that came with my MBP.

After connecting it, I would see my desktop appear on the Samsung for a fraction of a second before it goes black and displays "No Signal". I check my MBP and it can detect the Samsung TV. I tweaked all the resolutions and tried all the combinations with no luck.

When I hit F7, I get the same thing where I see the screen flick on, then go back to no signal.

I've been searching throughout the internet and have already tried several tips with no results (reboot computer with cable unplugged then replugged after boot, reset SMC, reset PRAM etc.)

I hooked the TV up to a Windows machine and it initially had the same problem, but once I set hit the "switch display button", it worked.

Does anybody else have this problem? Clearly its something wrong with my mac as a windows machine works.

Do you guys think the problem can be solved by getting a HDMI cable instead?

Thanks for your help in advance!
